This session is geared toward managers and aspiring managers interested in understanding state and local politics and their influence on public libraries. Attendees will learn about the state funding process as well as local county library funding. The presentation will define the differences between public libraries that function as departments of county or as special funds of county government. The presentation will explain the financial impact of aid to public libraries and the South Carolina Education Lottery. In addition, participants will learn strategies to help communicate positive ideas and images to local and state lawmakers. This session is interactive.
